How we work

The team at ReMind UK is supported and governed by the Board of Trustees. The board is collectively responsible for governance of ReMind UK and for developing our strategic direction. The trustees have oversight of all ReMind UK activities. They ensure we operate in line with our charitable objectives and for public benefit. The trustees also make sure that we meet our financial and legal obligations by managing and mitigating risk.

Our trustees

Our Board of Trustees is responsible for the strategic management of the charity, they meet four times a year.

Senior Leadership Team

ReMind UK’s Senior Leadership Team helps guide the organisation and support the people delivering our work. They set priorities, oversee programmes and partnerships, and ensure ReMind UK is well run and well governed. Working closely with trustees, colleagues and partners, the team helps drive ReMind UK’s mission to get ahead of dementia.

Melissa Hillier

Chief Executive Officer
I am accountable to our Board of Trustees for ensuring ReMind UK continues to thrive. Working with the Senior Team, I help set the charity’s strategy and direction, maintain high standards across our research, services and support, and act as a spokesperson. I also build partnerships with funders and the wider Bath and North East Somerset community to raise awareness of dementia and strengthen the support we provide to families. In my free time, I’m usually ferrying my two children to their clubs, running with the dog, or relaxing on the sofa with the cats and a good book.

Dr Tomas Welsh

Research & Medical Director & Academic Geriatrician
I completed my PhD and medical training in Nottingham where I held the post of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Medicine of Older People. Having relocated to Bath I was appointed Deputy Director at the Research Institute for Brain Health (RIBH) before taking up my current position as Director in 2022.  I am driven by a need to help improve the care of people with dementia. Drug treatments are a part of this but the wider impact of the disease also needs to be considered.

Claire Mitchell

Memory Clinic Manager & Senior Research Nurse
My role here at ReMind is a dual role of Memory Clinic Manager and Senior Research Nurse. I originally trained as a nurse but have held a variety of jobs, from management to medical research, and this role utilises many of the skills I have developed over the years. No two days are the same and there are always different challenges. I am passionate about providing the best possible care for everyone, particularly those in later life. It is a privilege to support patients and their families/carers; I love having an opportunity to get to know people. Outside of work, I have 3 grown-up children and like to keep fit swimming.

Catherine Wright

Head of Engagement
I have worked across many areas of the not for profit sector over the last thirty years including communications, trading, fundraising and customer experience. I bring these skills into my role at ReMind UK which spans oversight of our public facing work. I manage a small but mighty team which delivers fundraising, volunteering, marketing and ReMind UK’s post-diagnosis support which sees us work with, and change the lives of, hundreds of people affected by dementia every year.

Karen Harris

Finance Manager
With over 20 years of experience in the charity sector, I’m passionate about making every pound count so we can make a real difference to the people who need us most. I believe finance is more than numbers, it’s about everything we do and how we work together to create impact.

Alison Easto

HR & Operations Manager
As the HR and Operations Manager my role is very varied. From recruitment and staff wellbeing to health and safety, facilities, IT and maintenance, I make sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly so our team can focus on making a difference. As part of the senior leadership team my role allows me to combine strategic planning with hands-on support.

Research & Clinical Team

The Clinical Team works across both the Memory Clinic and clinical research. We are a skilled, compassionate multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering outstanding assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and research. Our clinicians include doctors, nurses, a pharmacist, psychologists and administrative colleagues who work together to provide person‑centred care to individuals experiencing memory concerns, cognitive changes, or dementia. We are mindful of the role of family and carers of these individuals and look to offer support for them too.  Alongside our commitment to high‑quality clinical practice, the research team delivers a wide portfolio of studies with the aim of advancing understanding of memory disorders and improve future treatment options. As a clinical team, we strive to ensure that every patient and family receives timely, evidence‑based support while contributing to the development of better care pathways for future generations.

Engagement Team

ReMind UK’s Engagement Team connects people with our work and supports them to get involved in ways that matter to them. The team leads our fundraising and volunteering activity, shares stories and information through content and communications, and provides post-diagnosis support to people living with dementia. By raising awareness and building meaningful relationships, the Engagement Team helps ensure ReMind’s work reaches, supports, and inspires as many people as possible.
