Why run the Bath Half for ReMind UK?

Dementia affects millions of people and has an impact far beyond the person diagnosed. Families, partners, friends and carers can all be affected.

At ReMind UK, we’re working to make a difference through research, earlier diagnosis and support for people living with dementia.

Meet Sue

Sue Mercer ran the Bath Half for ReMind UK in 2026. Alongside supporting the runners who were fundraising for ReMind UK with training sessions, she decided to raise money herself, for a deeply personal reason.

My mum was a dementia sufferer for many years and sadly lost her battle with this dreadful illness on 21 January 2026. It’s all very real and very recent for me.

Your fundraising helps make the work of ReMind UK possible

Dementia research

Our Research Institute for Brain Health is involved in clinical and academic research, helping to improve understanding of dementia and explore new approaches to diagnosis and treatment.

Diagnosis & Brain health

Our Memory Clinic and Brain Health Clinic help people understand their cognitive health and access appropriate assessment, diagnosis and support.

Support after diagnosis

We provide a range of post-diagnosis support for people living with dementia and their families and carers, helping people navigate life after diagnosis and maintain wellbeing and connection.

Bath Half Marathon fundraising ideas

Once you’ve signed up, creating a fundraising page is a great place to start. Sharing your connection to dementia and explaining how fundraising will support ReMind UK can help people understand the difference their donation can make. And remember to tell people why you’re taking on the Bath Half.

Here are a few fundraising tips to get you started:

Already have a Bath Half place?

You don’t need a charity place from us to run for ReMind UK.

If you’ve already secured your own place in the Bath Half Marathon 2027, you can still join Team ReMind UK and fundraise for us.

There is no additional entry fee from ReMind UK for runners who already have their own race place.

You’ll be able to set up your fundraising page, receive support from our team and help raise money for dementia research and support.
